Peak Season Air Freight Congestion

With the Far East peak season fast approaching, a number of airlines are predicting higher rates or possible surcharges and increased congestion in the coming months.

This is due to significant high demand for air freight from both China and Hong Kong into Europe and United Kingdom.

The expected constraints to capacity have several root causes, prime amongst these being a significant shortage of airfreight capacity coming into the market. With several large commercial technology launches being moved as air cargo, as well as increased cargo flows from e-commerce business and last-minute ocean freight conversions switched over to air freight. These are all factors that will further impact upon an already constrained market.

DSV will continue to monitor the market closely, but are advising customers to take precautionary action before going into peak season and book your airfreight shipments as early as possible. Additionally we can also provide other Multimodal products such as our Sea-Air service, which we see as a robust and cost effective alternative to standard Air freight services. With multiple other routings across the globe, we will continue to offer our customers the best service possible.
